IBM Watson computer system beat the former top 2 Jeopardy contestants (most wins and most money contestants). This computer consists of several processors and untold hours of work by IBM employees. It uses natural language processing, interprets unusual questions and makes rapid decisions. This occurred after much development and many trial runs against previous but not as successful contestants to improve the system. This represents the latest breakthrough in computer processing. This was a much more difficult challenge than “Big Blue” beating the Chess Grandmaster sinc echess has a limited number of moves and defined move restrictions. Chess is a computational problem. Jeopardy is a language, knowledge (large database) and interpretation problem.
